Albany Theatre

Originally called the “Butts Park Theatre” the Albany Theatre opened on 1st February 2013. For over 12 months, the theatre was entirely volunteer-led and managed but in order to increase the capacity to bring in events to generate revenue, a full-time, paid Theatre manager was employed in June 2014. In June 2015, new owners were put in place and almost two years had passed when signed documents were finally exchanged, on May 25th, 2017, that secure the future of the theatre and the use of the new space for 25 years, with an automatic option of an extension for a further 25 years. The Albany Theatre is now a shining light in the City Centre and they now play host, to a wide range of performances, from exquisite professional ballet companies to fun-packed tribute acts and from local community shows to spectacular off Broadway hits.

The Albany Theatre is a thriving arts venue, run by a charity that is assisted by a proud team of volunteers; their aim is to make a valued contribution to Coventry’s status as “UK City of Culture”. The theatre has a full programme of performances, events and activities to suit all ages. As well as this, the Albany Theatre plays an active role in the cultural life of the city of Coventry and they encourage participation from volunteers of all ages and abilities and the theatre is keen to promote the wealth of benefits for all involved, whether enjoying the variety of performances on display or actively contributing to help stage these performances and events.
