
During the hard times that we have experienced over the past few years, for some it has been extra hard and especially for individuals and families from the poorer communities of the city and people like these have been very dependent on local foodbanks. Coventry Foodbanks have one mission and that is to combat poverty and hunger across, not just over the city, but over the whole country. Currently, there are over 420 foodbanks situated across the UK which all help people from the poorest communities and over the past year, demand has massively increased due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the national lockdowns enforced in March 2020, November 2020 and January 2021. During the Covid-19 Pandemic, they were able to feed over 34,500 people but they were only able thanks to the goodwill and generosity of the public who donate food and over 90% of the food distributed by foodbanks is donated by the public.
